March Reads

What a great month of reads! I’ve really enjoyed these 3:

  1. The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gower
THIS BOOK!! It had absolutely everything I love in a book – history, romance, courtesans, mermaids, glamour, intrigue and a bit of old folk tales, it was just so good! It’s a big book but don’t let that put you off. I like big books if I’m enjoying them because they just keep on going!
  2. Sisters by Louisa May Alcott
In comparison this is a tiny book of 59 pages, and is a hand selected collection of stories from Little Women. Lovely to remind you of the best bits of Little Women if you’ve read it and if you haven’t then it will make you want to read Little Women.
  3. Where the World Ends by Geraldine McCaughrean
Oh my goodness this book is so mesmerizing. I had no idea about this part of Scottish history and about young men going Fowling out on the stacks in the middle of the sea! Obviously at some points in the book it is completely depressing and sad, it reminded me in parts of Lord of Flies, but its so well written you honestly feel like you’re there with them.
